Microblading FAQ

What is Microblading?

Microblading or Brow Embroidery is a Cosmetic Tattooing that is a part of Permanent Make-up procedure used on the eyebrow area. Eyebrows are recreated strand-by-strand using lifelike strokes applied directly onto the skin. The strokes accurately replicates hair reshaping your eyebrows. The treatment replaces long mornings in front of the mirror and many eyebrow pencils. It assures perfectly shaped and balanced brows all-day, everyday.

Is Microblading painful?

Some people are more sensitive to pain then others. Before and during the procedure we use topical anesthetics (numbing creams ) that are FDA approved. It takes a couple of minutes for your skin to absorb the anesthetics. Once numbing cream is absorbed, the sensation is minimal. On a scale of 1 to 10, with “1” being no discomfort, clients often experience between a 2 or 3 pain level during the treatment. Other factors such as menstrual cycles can also affect level of sensitivity.

Can I have an allergic reaction ?

Some people may be allergic to pigment. The chances of having an allergic reaction are less than a quarter of one percent (0.25%). However, we do offer a Patch Test to our clients if they don’t feel comfortable or they not sure if they are allergic to the pigment. The Patch Test will be applied to the scalp area. After the patch test we would wait about a week to see if there is any allergic reaction. If there isn't any allergic reaction, we can preform the procedure.

How long do results last?

Results can last from 6 to 18 months, fading gradually without any discoloration. Longevity depends on a variety of different factors, such as, skin type, color of pigment, lifestyle and aftercare treatment.

Is Microblading safe?

We only use highest-grade pharmaceutical pigments. Our pigments are cosmetic grade, that are sterilized and purified for cosmetic use. We do not use products that have not met safety standards or those that contain “vegetable dyes” that are unstable and may change color after time. Sanitation is our number one priority. All of our tools are single use needles in a sterile and sealed package and are discarded after each treatment.

How Does Microblading Work?

Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up treatment in which a pigment is manually inserted into the upper layers of the skin to mimic natural hair in your eyebrows. The tattoo fills in gaps between your eyebrow hair to give your brows a fuller look and create full and soft brows. The strokes are applied finely to achieve a defined and multidimensional result. Other names for Microblading are 3D eyebrows, eyebrow feathering, eyebrow embroidery, microstroking, and micropigmentation.

Where Does Microblading Come From?

Microblading originated in China, and since then has grown substantially in popularity in Europe, Asia, and America. Although not much is known about its earlier history, the existence of similar techniques can be traced back thousands of years. There are myths that microblading was started in Japan, but there is little evidence to support this claim, and there haven’t been many microblading artists there until a few years ago.

Healing Process.

What should I Avoid Doing After My Microblading Treatment?

To take care of your eyebrows properly after the procedure, avoid touching, scratching, picking, peeling your eyebrows, as well as sun exposure, makeup, moisturizer, lotion, sunscreen, or exfoliation. Don’t engage in activities that induce sweating, avoid strong winds (ex.driving with the windows down), alcohol, hot baths, showers, saunas, jacuzzis, and swimming.

My Eyebrows are Too Dark!

The first few weeks, your eyebrows will go through the healing period. After this is over, and you’ve followed proper aftercare, your eyebrows will become lighter in color, and swelling, scabs, will disappear / fall off. It’s completely normal for the color to be much darker right after the procedure. During the healing process, the color will fade slightly, revealing softer and more natural brows. If the color is fading too much, you can bring up any problems you have during the touchup session.

Is it Normal for my Eyebrows to be Scabbing?

Yes! Scabbing is part of you skin’s healing process. After a week or so, most, if not all, of the scabs should have fallen off, and you should notice a lighter brow and color. Scabbing happens because the microblading process involves making shallow cuts into your skin. The cuts are not deep enough to result in a permanent tattoo, but it does trigger an immune system response from your body.

Can I Pick my Scabs?

No! Under no circumstances should you pick at your scabs. This can cause the pigment to fall out, and you run the risk of losing all the progress from your first treatment. You must let your scabs fall off naturally. If you have a problem with your scabs, you may gently wash your eyebrows under warm water.

Preserving the Look

Are touchups necessary?

Microblading is a two-step process. The first touch-up, which happens 4-8 weeks after the first procedure, is crucial to retaining your shape and color. Your artist will fix any fading and re-define your eyebrows. Although you can opt for 6 month or 2 year touch-ups, annual touch-ups are highly recommended.

How Long Does it Take Microbladed Brows to Fade?

The speed at which your brows fade depends on many factors. Oily skin, certain medications and medical conditions can cause the pigment to fade at different rates. Everyone’s facial features are unique, and more or less frequent touchups may be necessary to maintain the microbladed look, depending on your features. It may take anywhere from one to three years for your brow color to fade.
